Barr. Kufre Udosen, Honourable Special Adviser to the Governor on Political and Social Re-orientation, has highlighted the achievements of Governor Umo Eno, noting that his administration is focused on building a lasting legacy through impactful, people-centered projects.
Speaking to the press, Udosen emphasized that the Governor’s approach to governance prioritizes long-term development over short-term political considerations. Quoting a popular maxim, he said, “A society grows great when leaders plant trees whose shade they may never sit in,” adding that the administration is firmly rooted in sustainable economic value and human capital development.
He pointed to the Governor’s prudence in financial management, including the payment of over ₦82 billion out of ₦111 billion in inherited gratuities and pensions, as well as deliberate efforts to reduce the state’s debt burden without unnecessary borrowing.
Udosen also highlighted significant strides in infrastructure, with over 1,300 km of road network and 86 other developmental, life-impacting projects, opening up rural communities and stimulating economic activities. In the housing sector, the administration has delivered over 1,048 units across key schemes, improving living conditions for citizens.
In agriculture, the ₦2 billion Farmers Grant has reached 1,866 beneficiaries, boosting productivity and strengthening food security, while youth-focused initiatives such as Ibom LED and the DAKADA Skills Acquisition Centre continue to equip young people with relevant skills and economic opportunities.
He further noted that recent developments in the aviation sector have significantly elevated the state’s global standing. The successful maiden international flight from Uyo to Accra marks a historic milestone, positioning Akwa Ibom as an emerging hub for regional and international connectivity.
Udosen referenced the remarks of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who described the Victor Attah International Airport as a “world-class transit hub” with the capacity to seamlessly handle both international and domestic operations, noting that the facility represents a game-changer for Nigeria’s aviation sector.
He added that complementary investments—including the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, aviation village, and logistics infrastructure—demonstrate a coordinated vision to build a sustainable economic ecosystem.
Udosen described these efforts as practical expressions of the belief that “good governance is measured not by promises made, but by lives improved,” adding that “the true wealth of any nation lies in the productivity of its people.”
He maintained that Governor Umo Eno’s leadership reflects a forward-thinking philosophy anchored on building systems that will outlast his tenure.
“We need Governor Umo Eno back in office to see through the impactful projects he’s started and ensure the state’s continued growth and development. A second term will allow him to build on the successes of his first term and create a brighter future for Akwa Ibom. Let’s give him the mandate to continue serving with excellence!”
