The Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman, House Committee on Public Procurement, Rep. Unyime Idem, PhD, has commissioned a classroom building with offices which he constructed and furnished for Community Comprehensive College, Ikot Inyang, in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The project forms part of the lawmaker’s ongoing interventions aimed at improving the quality of education and creating a conducive learning environment for pupils, students and teachers in Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency.
Speaking during the commissioning, Rep. Idem, who was represented by the immediate past Executive Chairman, Oruk Anam Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Frank, said the project was motivated by his conviction that quality education remains a critical foundation for sustainable development and human capital growth.
He pledged to continue to support educational institutions within the constituency through interventions that address critical infrastructure gaps and improve the learning environment for students and teachers.
In their seperate remarks, the school management, students, parents and other stakeholders in the community expressed appreciation to Rep. Idem for the intervention, describing the new facility as a valuable addition to the school and a reflection of his commitment to the educational advancement of his constituents.
They noted that the provision of modern classroom facilities would contribute significantly to teaching and learning, while also providing a more conducive environment for students to acquire knowledge and develop their potentials.
The stakeholders pledged their collective commitment to protecting the facility and ensuring that it is properly maintained. They promised to guard against vandalism, misuse and other acts capable of undermining the purpose for which the project was provided.
Recall that Rep. Idem has in the last two weeks commissioned a newly constructed and furnished storey classroom block and another classroom block at Western Annang Secondary Commercial School, as well as a classroom block at QIC Central School, Ikot Akpa Nkuk, in Ukanafun Local Government Area, all built by him.
