It was a morning of gratitude, worship and fulfilled promises on Sunday, August 2, 2026, as the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, led members of the Tony Believers Political Group to a thanksgiving service at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Ndon Omum District, in fulfilment of a vow he made to God before his election as Executive Chairman.
The thanksgiving service brought together political associates, church leaders and supporters who joined the Chairman in giving thanks to God for His faithfulness throughout his political journey and for the successful outcome of the 2024 Local Government election.
Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Emem Anthony Nyong, the Chairman participated actively in the service and took the First Bible Reading from 1 Corinthians 15:10, a passage that reflects the sustaining grace of God.
Speaking during the service, Hon. Nyong recalled that before the election, members of The Church devoted themselves to prayers and fasting for him, while members of the Tony Believers Political Group consistently gathered in the Church to seek God’s guidance and favour throughout the electioneering period.
He said he had made a personal commitment that if God granted him victory at the polls, he would return to His sanctuary with thanksgiving. According to him, the thanksgiving service was not only the fulfilment of that promise but also a public acknowledgement that his emergence as Executive Chairman and the progress recorded by his administration have been made possible by the grace of God.
The Chairman expressed appreciation to the District Pastor, Pastor A. A. Akpan, church leaders and members of the congregation for their prayers, encouragement and steadfast support before and after the election.
He also thanked the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for the support his administration has continued to receive, noting that the partnership has contributed significantly to the ongoing development of Nsit Atai Local Government Area.
Hon. Nyong further appreciated political leaders, stakeholders, traditional rulers and the people of Nsit Atai for their cooperation and commitment to maintaining peace across the Local Government Area. He assured the people that his administration would remain focused on providing purposeful and inclusive leadership while sustaining the pace of development in every ward.
In his remarks, the International President of the Tony Believers Political Group, Akparawa John Saviour, described the thanksgiving as a moment of appreciation to God for His faithfulness to the Chairman and the political family.
He thanked the Church for standing with the Chairman and members of the group in prayers over the years and disclosed that the Tony Believers Political Group had begun expanding its structure across the ten wards of Nsit Atai Local Government Area. He urged members to remain united and continue supporting the administration of Prince Nyong.
Also speaking, Pastor Ezekiel Umoh said the emergence of Hon. Nyong as Executive Chairman had given Eastern Nsit Ward 4 a renewed sense of political direction. He noted that the ward remained proud of the Chairman’s achievements and pledged continued support for his administration.
Delivering the sermon, the Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Ikot Akpabio Area, Apostle Prof. L. E. Udoh, spoke on the theme, “It Is by God’s Grace I Am What I Am,” drawing his message from Job 23:14, Psalm 75:6–7, Proverbs 8:15–16 and Jeremiah 29:11.
He reminded the congregation that every accomplishment in life comes through the grace of God and urged Christians to cultivate the habit of returning to God with thanksgiving. He warned against ingratitude, describing it as an attitude that deprives many people of greater blessings, and commended the Executive Chairman for honouring the vow he made before God.
One of the major highlights of the service was the presentation of a new generating set and a cash donation of ₦1 million by the Tony Believers Political Group to The Apostolic Church Nigeria in appreciation of the Church’s prayers and support throughout the Chairman’s political journey.
The service concluded with special prayers for the Chairman and his family, the administration of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Governor Umo Eno, and for continued peace, unity and progress in Nsit Atai.
Among those in attendance were the Supervisor for Religious Affairs, Hon. Mercy Umoh; the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Engr. Emmanuel Edet; political appointees, church leaders, members of the Tony Believers Political Group and other guests.
