…Pays Tributes to Gov. Umo Eno, Senator Akpabio
The Executive Chairman of Ini Local Government Area, Inibehe Umah, has been honoured with the prestigious Best Local Government Chairman in Nigeria Award by Rootswatch Magazine in recognition of his outstanding performance in infrastructure development, education, and healthcare delivery.
The award was presented on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the National Merit Award House, Abuja, during a ceremony attended by government officials, media practitioners, development stakeholders, and distinguished guests from across the country.
Hon. Umah emerged as one of only 32 local government chairmen selected from the 774 local government areas in Nigeria following a rigorous assessment of leadership performance, project execution, and impact on grassroots development.
Presenting the award, Head of news, Voice of Nigeria, Mrs. Latifat Afegbua, who represented the Chairman of the Occasion, Jibrin Baba Ndace, DG of Voice of Nigeria, commended Hon. Umah’s commitment to transformative governance and the visible improvements recorded in critical sectors within Ini Local Government Area.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Hon. Umah dedicated the honour to the people of Ini Local Government Area and expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno PhD, for providing purposeful leadership and creating an enabling environment for local governments to thrive.
The Chairman also paid glowing tributes to the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, acknowledging his contributions and collaboration towards the achievement of Peace and the development of Akwa Ibom State, which have become a source of inspiration to emerging leaders across Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
Hon. Umah noted that the recognition would serve as further motivation to deepen his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented projects and improving the welfare of residents across the wards and communities of Ini Local Government Area.
He reaffirmed his resolve to sustain investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, rural development, and youth empowerment, stressing that the award represents not only a personal achievement but a collective recognition of the progress being recorded in Ini Local Government Area.
The award adds to the growing list of recognitions received by the Ini Local Government administration and underscores the impact of its developmental initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of the people at the grassroots.
