The Obong Enin One of Uyo and a political stakeholder in Akwa Ibom, Obong Uduak Edim have expressed happiness over the emergence of Prof. Chris Ekong as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, stating that his emergence has been long overdue.
While congratulating Ekong on the success recorded as the new chief administrator of the prestigious federal university, Edim in his goodwill message in Uyo described is emergence as long awaited and a welcome development.
Edim who maintained that the journey of Prof. Chris Ekong to become the VC has been long overdue, that though the process has been meticulous and cumbersome, he thanked God that he had scaled through all the huddles, oppositions, challenges and have become the head of administration of the higher institution.
He expressed the believe that the university of Uyo under the leadership of Prof Chris Ekong is going to be more productive, progressive and eventful, adding that the issues which hitherto gave the institution a bad image will be addressed and things put in the right perspective.
He urged the new Vice Chancellor to bring his wealth of knowledge, wisdom, skills and experience to bear in the discharge of his duties and responsibilities in line with his manifestos and agenda for the development of the apex institution of learning in the State.
Meanwhile, Obong Uduak Edim have appreciated the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno for giving his support to the emergence of an indigenous and a son of the soil, Chris Ekong as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, with a view that the VC would champion and promote the Arise Agenda of the governor in ways and manners he will administer the instruction.
Speaking further, Obong Uduak Edim commended Secretary to Government of Akwa Ibom State, Prince Enobong Uwah for his critical role in the affairs of the State and for spearheading the promotion and progress of his people as the Political Leader of Uyo LGA and for all other good gestures he is giving his people for the development of the state.
He thanked the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, Edidem Sylvanus Okon for his fatherly role, words of advice and guidance given so far to Uyo people, particularly the new Vice Chancellor of the University towards his emergence, amongst other things.
He also extended his goodwill message to the federal government of Nigeria, the federal ministry of education, the Nigeria university commission, stakeholders, of the University and the governing council of the University as well as the Senate of the University cum the entire structure of the University for choosing Prof Chris Ekong as the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo.
He therefore called on concerned to give him the needed support to deliver on the mandate given him. Obong Uduak Edim personally promised to give the new VC the needed support in terms of security and otherwise and used the opportunity to appreciate stakeholders of Uyo for the support given to Chris Ekong on his emergence and to every other illustrious and aspiring sons and daughters of Uyo Local Government Area in their various endeavors of life.
