As the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) approaches, the Secretary of All Nigeria Confederation Of Principals Of Secondary School (ANCOPSS) Pastor Ime Ekpo has warned the students to abstain from all forms of examination malpractice and inculcate good conduct during the examination period.
Pastor Ekpo who stated this during the inaugural service of ANCOPSS at Gosple Era Ministry in Uyo over the weekend, stressed that any students that will be caught in examination malpractice shall face the full wrath of the law.
He said, ” the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will commence this term. This particular year, we don’t want to take chances in anyway. It is zero examination malpractice atmosphere we want. Please warn your child because it is going to be from the examination room to the police station. So if you stay at home by 5:pm your child is not back call the school authority incase your child is at any of the police station because we will not hesitate to take any child culpable to the police station.”
He frowned over the inability of some students who cannot write their names having earned good grades. He said, “Do you know that there are students that would have 5-6 papers and cannot write their name, the embarrassment is too much”.
Pastor Ekpo who doubled as the Principal of Community Secondary School, four towns, admonished the parents to train their ward in accordance to the Lord’s teachings, adding that it will form the basis of their educational background.
In his word, “the true person in your child is the person the child is when he or she is in the midst of his classmates, and be sure of what that your child is. what you see in the home is chameleon life style that changes colour at the spot of every environment, trying to detour to have a good name when actually there’s nothing good about him, in other words, is a life of deceit,” he said.
Also speaking, the immediate past Chairman of ANCOPSS, Mr. Steve Akpabio, said that the inaugural service is very crucial as it act as a carterlyst to a successful academy term.
Mr. Akpabio maintained that education is a join responsibility of the stakeholders, which include, the parents, teachers and the government, noting that the rate of casualties across the schools in Uyo is high and there is need for parents to play their roles to help ease the work.
On his part, Apostle Paul Issachar, who preached on the topic, “Courage To Cross The Jordan”, advised christians to have faith in God and be fucosed while working in God’s vineyard.
Drawing his message from Joshua 5 verse 12, he Said, though the Nigeria’s economy is bitting hard, Christians should forget the economy and focused on Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith.
Apostle Paul used the occasion to advised the students to see their studies as priority for now, adding that immaterial things can cause distraction to students that may lead to poor academic performance.
