Critics Urged to Tour 31 LGAs, Witness Life-Touching Projects Firsthand.
Barr. Kufre Udosen, Hon. Special Adviser, Bureau of Political and Social Re-orientation has called on critics of the Akwa Ibom State Government to embark on a comprehensive tour of all 31 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state to witness firsthand the scale and impact of completed, ongoing developmental projects.
Speaking in a statement made available to the press over the weekend, Barr. Udosen emphasized that objective assessment of the administration’s performance can only be achieved through direct observation of projects spread across the state. He urged skeptics to move beyond armchair criticism and engage with realities on ground.
“Before you criticize, take a breath and go through the 31 LGAs of the state to see for yourself the life-touching projects, in addition to the over 700 projects and more than 1,300 kilometres of roads delivered by Governor Umo Eno in just over two years,” he stated.
He noted that the administration’s achievements are not concentrated in a few urban centres but deliberately distributed across all LGAs to ensure inclusive development. According to him, the over 700 projects executed so far span key sectors including education, healthcare, rural and urban infrastructure, agriculture, and social welfare, reflecting a holistic approach to governance.
Barr. Udosen further highlighted that the construction of over 1,300 kilometres of roads within a relatively short period has significantly improved connectivity, boosted economic activities, and enhanced access to rural communities that were previously underserved. He stressed that these road projects have not only eased transportation but also opened up new corridors for commerce and investment.
In the healthcare sector, he pointed to the ongoing construction of the Ibom International Hospital, a 350-bed world-class medical facility designed to position Akwa Ibom as a hub for advanced medical services. The project, he said, underscores Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to strengthening the state’s healthcare delivery system and reducing the need for medical tourism that would further boost the IGR of the state.
Beyond infrastructure, Barr. Udosen also drew attention to the administration’s strong social intervention programmes, particularly the ARISE Compassionate Homes initiative. Through this programme, over 350 homes are being constructed and handed over for elderly and vulnerable citizens across the state, providing not just shelter but dignity and improved quality of life for beneficiaries. He described the initiative as a clear reflection of a people-centred governance philosophy.
Barr. Udosen also mentioned the Governor’s approval of N2.5 billion for the procurement of over 620.000 oil palm seedlings for distribution to farmers across the State, as part of his administration’s Tree Crop Revolution programme. He as well noted other deliberate investments being made to support farmers, enhance food security, and create employment opportunities for youths. “This will help the farmers greatly, and improve the agricultural prowess of our dear state” he added.
He further explained that the government has made significant strides in education through the renovation and construction of schools, provision of learning materials, and creation of a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
The security sector is not left behind as the governor launched the construction of a Command and Control Centre to enhance security operations across the state. The centre will serve as the nerve centre for all security services, integrating multiple information streams and communication channels to improve situational awareness and facilitate swift responses. Equipped with modern technology, the centre, expected to be completed in four months, will monitor and coordinate security activities, including surveillance of the state’s 129km coastline.
Barr. Udosen reiterated that Governor Umo Eno’s administration remains focused on results-driven governance, adding that the visible transformation across communities serves as evidence of prudent resource management and a clear development agenda. He maintained that residents across the state are already experiencing tangible improvements in their daily lives through better infrastructure, improved healthcare access, and enhanced social services.
He concluded by reaffirming that the government will continue to prioritize projects that directly impact the people including but not limited to the CNG buses Terminal transport system, urging citizens to support ongoing efforts aimed at sustaining development and economic growth across Akwa Ibom State.
