… Plead The Governor For Traditional Fathers’ Improve Welfare

Akwa Ibom State Village Head, Etinyin Uduak Bassey of Nung Oku in Uruan Local Government Area join other citizens of our great State in congratulating Governor Umo Bassey Eno on his significant achievements and signature projects in transforming the state. He was delighted to acknowledge Umo Eno’s administration’s commitment in infrastructural improvement and provision of model schools for quality education in the state.
The Traditional Father who so praised the Governor for initiative in laying a strong foundation for the future of our children said his leadership style has been exemplary. The Royal Father also commended him for ensuring the timely payments of salaries and gratuities to Akwa Ibom State civil workers and pensioners respectively. The Village Head who chat with newsmen in his palace described Umo Eno’s empowerment programs going on in the state as a boost to stimulate economic growth, job creation as well as social inclusion. He also gave him thump-up in the health care sector which he said is commendable as the citizens are opened to quality medical care.
In the chat, the royal father noted with pleasure His Excellency’s determination in improving and repairing rural and urban road network, as well as ensuring the state is secure for the citizens and visitors as well. But the Village Head expressed his displeasure over their welfare. In his word “But Your Excellency, one thing seem not right which is the issue of welfare of the Village Heads across the state. We urge you to look into encouraging the traditional fathers (village heads) in order to ignite their working spirit.”
He went further to state thus, “We are the custodians of our respective villages; whereby; we are answerable to any circumstance within our villages as chief security officers working to restore peace and orderliness.” In lieu of the current economic hardship in the country, he therefore complain the monthly stipend being given to royal fathers are grossly insignificant considering transportation, entertainment of guests, security apparatus maintenance, health and other requirements; it is obvious this stipend is barely not enough. Hence, the Royal Fathers’ call on the Governor to look into Village Heads’ welfare as a mark of inspiring and encouraging them to perform well in their respective villages.
Meanwhile, the royal diadem pray God to continue guiding His Excellency to succeed in all his promises of taking Akwa Ibom State to greater height as well as ability to deliver on his mandate creditably well.
