… As Prof Ekong Appreciates NSE President
Engr. Prof Akaninyene Ekong, the Chairman, NSE Strategic Document Committee, has presented the committee’s final report to the NSE President, Engr Margaret Oguntala FNSE, FNISafetyE.
Prof. Ekong who is the immediate past National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers stated that, “the Strategic Document Committee was established by the NSE Council with the mandate to translate “The Margaret Oguntala Presidential Agenda (MOPSA)” into a comprehensive Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Strategic Document. The outcome of the effort is expected to serve as a ten-year administrative and developmental roadmap for the Society, aligning with the vision and goals articulated by the present administration.
The initiative reflects the commitment of the NSE leadership to institutionalize continuity, strengthen governance structures, and provide a long-term framework for sustainable professional growth and organizational excellence”.
The committee Chairman, Engr. Prof Akaninyene Edet Ekong MNSE, whose wealth of experience and leadership greatly enhanced the committee’s effectiveness and overall direction stated that the committee strategically focused on critical thematic areas relevant to the Society’s development, such as, Membership Development, Strategic Partnerships, International Relations, Community Impact and Institutional Branding. The structure allowed for efficiency, inclusiveness, and in-depth analysis of each strategic area.
According to the Committee Chairman, “each sub-committee presented periodic progress reports, which were collectively reviewed and refined in line with the overall vision of the MOPSA framework. Constructive feedback, peer reviews, and expert inputs were incorporated to ensure quality, clarity, and alignment with the strategic aspirations of the NSE.
At the committee’s final session, all sub-committee reports were formally presented, vetted, and approved. The comprehensive document, which synthesizes inputs from all thematic areas, was endorsed for final production.
Following approval by the committee, copies of the NSE Strategic Document were printed and formally presented to NSE President, Engr. Margaret Aina Oguntala during the 464th Council meeting of the NSE in Abuja. This milestone marks the successful completion of the committee’s core assignment and sets the stage for implementation and periodic review of the strategic plan”.
The Committee through its Chairman, Engr. Prof Akaninyene Ekong, MNSE, expresses its profound appreciation to the NSE President and the Council for entrusting him with this crucial assignment. He is confident that the NSE Strategic Document (2025–2035) will serve as a reliable administrative guide and developmental blueprint for the next decade. Stating that, “it’s also expected to strengthen institutional continuity, enhance professional excellence, and position the Nigerian Society of Engineers as a globally competitive and impactful professional body.”
Ekong concluded that, the committee remains available to provide further clarifications and support during the implementation phases of the strategic framework.
