NSIT ATAI FIRST LADY FLAGS OFF SECOND ROUND MATERNAL, NEWBORN AND CHILD HEALTH WEEK

The Wife of the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Mrs. Emem Anthony Nyong, has officially flagged off the 2025 Second Round Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Week at the Model Primary Health Centre, Odot, on Wednesday, 19th November 2025.

In her remarks, Mrs. Nyong reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to building an Akwa Ibom where every mother and child enjoys sound health. She emphasized that good health aligns with God’s will and encouraged mothers to take full advantage of the free services offered during the MNCH Week. She advised pregnant and nursing mothers to maintain proper hygiene, prioritize regular hospital visits, and ensure timely health examinations. She further appealed to all mothers and caregivers to cooperate fully so that no eligible child in Nsit Atai misses out on the life-saving interventions provided during the exercise.

Mrs. Nyong expressed appreciation to the supporting development Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno phd and acknowledged the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, for his continuous support. She also thanked the Royal wives and all participants for their commitment to the programme.

Earlier, the Director of Health delivered a welcome message, charging mothers to safeguard their children’s future by visiting the nearest primary health centre or temporary health post in their wards for routine services. She also commended the Council Chairman for the support structures in place.

The highlight of the programme was the sharing of gift items to mothers inv attendance, aimed at encouraging participation and supporting families during the MNCH Week.

Those who attended the event include representatives of UNICEF, Helen Keller International, the Centre for Clinical Care and Clinical Research in Nigeria (CCCRN), and the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) Project. Also present were the Supervisor for Health, Hon. Mandu Dan; Deputy Leader and Councillor representing Eastern Nsit Ward 8, Hon. Udeme Robson; Councillor representing Eastern Nsit Ward 6, Hon. Veronica Ubeh; Supervisor for Women Affairs, Hon. Noble Paul; and the Councillor representing Eastern Nsit Ward 10, Hon. Edidiong Ibia.
