Ikot Abasi Chairman Splashes 30 million naira, 700 bags of rice to spice 2025 Christmas

As a complementary reaction to Governor Umo Eno’s 40 bags of rice for every gazetted village in Ikot Abasi, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ime Williamson Essien, his wife, Dr. Idara Ime Essien, the legislative council and his cabinet, electrified the 2025 Christmas celebration with a whooping thirty million naira, 30,000,000.00 and 700 bags of 25kg bags of rice to Ikot Abasi people across political party lines.

Essien, who made the donation, Saturday, December 20th, during the end of the years communion on the government field amid deafening ovation, said the gesture was to complement and encourage the outstanding benevolence and people -centred government of Pastor Umo Eno.

The Chairman stressed the need for continued unity, as exemplified by the Governor’s ”Akwa Ibom United” political philosophy, even as he solicited continued support, and urged Ikot Abasi people to play what he described as the ” Politics of development”

Also speaking, Managing Director of HENSEK Integrated Engineering Services, Engr. Uwem Okoko appreciated the local government chairman and his cabinet for complementing and believing in the Governor’s unification mission, describing the initiative as the master key that will unlock and spark progress and development in Ikot Abasi and a tonic that will nourish social harmony in the state.

Speaking in the same vein, Special Adviser, Bureau of Political And Social Re- Orientation, Barrister Kufre Udosen, described the executive Chairman as a record breaker and solicited continued support for him and the state Governor.

Udosen, also donated 100 bags of rice, even as he drummed continued support for the chairman and the state Governor to enable them translate their laudable dreams to physical reality for the state.

Speaking in the same vein, the member representing Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin and Eastern Obolo Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Uduak Odudoh, while appreciating the Governor for his philosophy of political unity, announced a sweeping sum of 20 million naira to oil the Christmas for the three local governments that make up the federal Constituency.

He described the Chairman’s largess as the highest in the state, calling for continued loyalty and support to enable him do more.

Though he declined further statements on others items, but said his rice container, which will flood the three local governments, will be opened on the Christmas day.

The event reached a melting point when over ten million naira was announced as transport fare for the crowd, who thronged the local government secretariat for the political communion.

The government field was filled to the brim and the crowd overflowed adjourning streets that lasted for hours.
Notable among them were members of the legislative and executive arms of Ikot Abasi LGA, traditional rulers, past and present political office holders, women, youth groups, faithful of the two leading political parties, led by Obong Bassey Abasiute (APC)and (Engr) Stanley Inyang, (PDP).

Others were women and youth groups. And when the sun began his journey to the west, the excited crowd smiled home with pregnant envelopes, raining prayers and chanting loud praises for Governor, the executive Chairman and others.
