Says, 15.8km Ikot Esu – Otomo – Azumini Road Commissioned as Symbol of Deliverance for Ika People

The Executive Chairman of Ika Local Government Area, Barr. Utibe Nwoko, has eulogized the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D, for the unprecedented road infrastructure development in Ika, describing it as a long awaited deliverance for the people of Ikot Esu, Otomo and adjoining communities up to Azumini in Abia State.
Speaking during the commissioning of the newly constructed 15.8km Ikot Esu – Otomo – Azumini road, Barr. Nwoko expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the people of Ika, commending the Governor for keeping his promise of rural transformation.
“This road is not just a stretch of asphalt; it is a lifeline for our people. It connects homes, markets, farmlands and it restores hope to communities that had been neglected for years. Governor Umo Eno has proven himself as a leader who listens, cares and delivers,” the Chairman stated.
He emphasized that the road, which traverses Ikot Esu, Otomo and Ikot Akpan Okure before linking the Akwa Ibom – Abia boundary, will significantly boost commerce, ease mobility and unlock socio-economic opportunities for residents.
Nwoko further lauded the Governor’s people focused approach to governance, noting that “for many administrations, this road was a dream, but under Governor Umo Eno, it has become a reality. Ika people are eternally grateful and we pledge our unwavering support to this administration.”
The commissioning ceremony drew a large crowd of stakeholders, traditional rulers, youths and women groups who trooped out in celebration. Residents, in their testimonies, described the project as a turning point in the history of the area, one that will improve livelihoods and foster unity between Akwa Ibom and Abia border communities.
