Ibeno Council Boss Lauds Gov Eno on Sports Development

. . .says festival fosters unity among Citizens

The Executive Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Area, Hon. Glory Effiong, has applauded the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for successfully hosting the 2025 Sports Festival in the State.

Speaking to newsmen at Uyo Township Stadium during the closing ceremony on Saturday, 12th September, 2025, the Council Boss described the festival as a unifying initiative that discovered new talents and strengthened bonds of unity across the state.

Hon. Ekah who led Ibeno delegation to the week-long event, commended the Governor for what she described as a well-orchestrated sporting tournament that has not only discovered talents but also built bridges of friendship and teamwork across the state.

She further praised the Governor’s sports development drive under the ARISE Agenda, noting that the success of the festival was a reflection of his administration’s commitment to harnessing youth potential through sports development.

The Chairman was joined by the Commissioner for Labour and Manpower Planning, Elder Hon. Ikoedem Ekong, amongst other dignitaries and sports lovers from the area to the spectacular and memorable closing ceremony that featured; colorful march-past, traditional displays, medal presentations, and the official closing declaration.

Meanwhile, the Supervisor for Youth and Sports, Comrade Maxwell Mbiam, who also spoke with our reporters lauded the Chairman for her unprecedented performance since assumption of office, describing her as a grassroots leader who has given a new face to governance in the area.

On her part, the physically elated Captain of the female football team of Ibeno, Miss Emaido Gabriel, who won bronze with her squad while speaking on behalf of athletes thanked the Governor his encouragement and financial support.

Miss Emaido who recounted how a teammate fainted during a contest and was revived through the Chairman’s swift and proactive intervention, lauded the Chairman for her motherly advice and assistance throughout the tournament and prayed for God’s continuous blessings on her.
