Clergy, Over 3,000 Supporters Defect to APC in Akwa Ibom

…Declares Commitment to Unity, Peace, and Gov. Umo Eno’s Reelection

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has recorded a major political boost as Apostle Dr. Elijah Jack, General Overseer of His Divine Redeemed World Ministries, officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, leading more than 3,000 supporters drawn from communities across Onna Local Government Area.

The grand defection ceremony, held over the weekend at the APC Ward Office, Oniong East Ward 1, Onna, attracted top political leaders, stakeholders, youth groups, and traditional custodians who described the movement as a “historic political shift” and “a defining moment for APC in Onna.”

Addressing the large crowd of supporters, Apostle Elijah Jack, who doubles as the Chairman of Apostle Elijah Jack’s foundation and an Ambassador of Peace, expressed profound gratitude to APC leaders for the warm reception.

He stated that his move was guided by a divine and patriotic obligation to advance national unity, peacebuilding, and grassroots development.

“I am not joining the APC as an individual. I am coming with an avalanche of supporters across all political wards in Onna, and Akwa Ibom state at large. Together, we shall propagate the vision of Governor Pastor Umo Eno and advance the tenets of the APC,” he declared.

Apostle Jack reaffirmed his commitment to the reelection of Governor Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, and pledged full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting the alignment between the President’s national programmes and Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda.

He emphasized that his defection is motivated by unity, peace, and service, not personal interest.

“My mission is to build bridges, not barriers. For years, I have united families, mediated conflicts, empowered youths, and preached forgiveness. I intend to bring this spirit of reconciliation into politics.”

Apostle Jack pledged to:

Promote programmes that unite youths and women across party lines.

Use his pulpit to preach political tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Mobilize his followers to register fully as APC members and obtain their PVCs ahead of 2027.

Support President Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno’s reelection efforts.

Encourage citizens to place Nigeria’s unity above political affiliation.

Receiving the new entrants, Onna APC leader Rt. Hon. Patrick Ifon described the movement as a “landmark moment” and a strong indication of APC’s growing acceptance in the state.

“This is not just a decamp; it is a political statement. With the thousands Apostle Elijah has brought, APC in Onna is positioned to sweep all positions in the coming elections,”Hon. Ifon stated.

Also speaking, Commissioner for Finance Hon. Emem Bob praised Apostle Jack as “a brother, friend, and man of capacity,” adding that the defection further testifies to Governor Umo Eno’s goodwill and acceptance across Onna.

Other notable APC stakeholders—including Dr. Owoidighe Ekpoattai, Mr. Nkanang Nkanang, Hon. Bassey Willie, Hon. Oton Charlie, Barr. Akan Idem, Hon. Emmanuel Ekpeyo, Elder Nelson Ntia, Hon. Samuel Mboso, and Comrade Tony Ekpo—hailed the mass movement as a major boost to APC’s grassroots strength.

The atmosphere was vibrant as women and youths in colourful traditional attire performed cultural dances and folklore songs, symbolizing unity and celebration. The blend of politics and culture reflected the profound community backing behind the mass movement.

Political observers say Apostle Elijah Jack’s defection is more than a routine crossover. With its massive turnout, cultural display, and endorsement by top APC figures, the event has significantly altered the political landscape of Onna, positioning the APC for major electoral gains in the coming years.
