The Amalgamated Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA), Akwa Ibom State, is set to host the maiden edition of its annual celebration, tagged “1st ANPA Week 2025”, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Ceedapeg Hotels, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, by 11:00 a.m.
The event, which promises to be a convergence of media professionals, government officials, and development stakeholders, will feature a Symposium, Awards and Luncheon to celebrate excellence in journalism and reflect on the evolving role of newspaper publishers in state development.
With the theme, “The Relevance of Newspaper Publishers in State Development: The Case of Akwa Ibom State under the Arise Agenda,” and a sub-theme, “Newspaper Publishers as Catalysts for Democracy and Good Governance,” the event will provide a platform for dialogue on the contributions of the press to good governance and sustainable development.
Speaking ahead of the event, the President of ANPA, Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred, said the week-long celebration is aimed at strengthening the partnership between the media and the government in promoting transparency, accountability, and citizens’ participation in governance.
The Chairman, Central Planning Committee (CPC), Elder Patrick Albert, described the maiden ANPA Week as a milestone in the association’s history, noting that it will also feature recognition of distinguished personalities who have contributed to the growth of the media industry and development of Akwa Ibom State.
Other key officials of ANPA include Elder Ernest Akpan, Chairman, Board of Trustees; Comrade Ubong Etetor, Secretary; Comrade Edet Ikotidem, Vice President; Comrade Victor Ukpong, Vice Chairman; Comrade Harrison Ndifreke, Secretary, CPC ANPA Week 2025; and Comrade Amos Etuk, BoT member.
The 1st ANPA Week 2025 is expected to attract dignitaries from both the public and private sectors, as well as media practitioners across the state and beyond.
