The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has dissolved all statutory and non-statutory boards and commissions in the state with immediate effect.

Uwah said the decision was taken in line with the Statutory Boards (Special Provisions) Law, 2023 of the state.
“The governor wishes members of the dissolved boards and commissions well in their future endeavours,” Uwah said in the statement.
“The governor commends them for the roles they have played towards achieving the promises contained in the ARISE agenda.”
The SSG directed chairpersons of the affected agencies to hand over all government property in their custody to the most senior officers in their establishments.
Governor Eno had earlier hinted at the move during a media briefing to mark the 37th anniversary of the state’s creation in 2024.
At the time, the governor revealed plans to overhaul the state executive council, including statutory and non-statutory boards.
The governor said the dissolution would not come as a surprise to commissioners and board members who had dedicated their time and energy to the state’s development.
In Akwa Ibom, statutory and non-statutory boards oversee a wide range of state functions, from housing and transport to environmental management, healthcare, and youth development.
