Newspaper publication in Akwa Ibom State.
He gave the commendation on Monday, October 13, 2025, when the committee paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Uyo as part of its stakeholder engagements ahead of the maiden edition of ANPA Week 2025, billed to hold from November 9 to 14, 2025.
ESV. Billy expressed appreciation to the committee for recognizing the role of the media in driving societal progress, urging ANPA to continue projecting Akwa Ibom State in a good light through responsible reportage. He emphasized that the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno, Ph.D., is a well-thought-out development blueprint that means well for the people and deserves the media’s positive reinforcement.
“The media has a great responsibility to shape public perception and promote good governance. I encourage ANPA members to use their various platforms to tell the Akwa Ibom story positively and to highlight the strides being made under the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno, Ph.D.,” he said.
Earlier, in his remarks, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Elder Patrick Albert, appreciated ESV. Billy for his audience and support, noting that the association’s forthcoming event would further strengthen collaboration between the media and key development stakeholders in the state.
Elder Albert described community newspapers as the “heartbeat of journalism,” adding that they serve as vital channels of communication between the people and the government, amplifying local voices and promoting civic engagement.
He disclosed that ANPA Week 2025, themed “The Relevance of Newspaper Publishers in State Development: The Case of Akwa Ibom State under the ARISE Agenda,” would feature a rich lineup of activities, including a Thanksgiving Service, Free Medical Outreach, Visits to Orphanage Homes, Road Walk, Novelty Football Match, Inspection of Government Projects, An Evening with Distributors and Vendors, and a Symposium, Awards, and Luncheon as the grand finale.
Also speaking, Pastor Osuini-Abasi Alfred, President of ANPA, expressed appreciation to ESV. Billy for his warm reception and acknowledged his contributions to the growth of the real estate and valuation sector in the state. He emphasized that ANPA Week 2025 was conceived to celebrate and reposition community journalism as a key driver of development within the framework of the ARISE Agenda.
“Our mission is to strengthen partnerships with government, the private sector, and the public to ensure that community newspapers continue to inform, educate, and inspire civic participation,” the ANPA President said.
The visit ended with mutual expressions of goodwill and a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration for the successful hosting of ANPA Week 2025 and the overall progress of Akwa Ibom State.
