NUJ extols Anieti Udofia over Christmas Unplugged, tourism visibility

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, has extolled the outstanding performance of the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia, and has also praised Governor Umo Eno for their sustained efforts at repositioning the State’s tourism sector.
 
The commendation was contained in a communiqué issued at the first Congress of the year 2026 by the State Council of the NUJ held on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the Press Centre in Uyo.
 
The NUJ gave particular recognition to the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia for a successful hosting of Christmas Unplugged 3.0, describing it as a well-conceptualised and professionally executed event that boosted the State’s visibility and reinforced its reputation as a vibrant cultural and tourism destination.
 
According to the journalists, Christmas Unplugged 3.0 showcased Akwa Ibom’s rich cultural heritage, stimulated economic activities, and created opportunities for creatives, entertainers, and small businesses.
 
The Union encouraged the State Government and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to sustain the current momentum, noting that the deliberate investment in tourism aligns with global best practices for economic diversification. The NUJ assured the government of its continued partnership in promoting government programmes and projecting Akwa Ibom State positively to the wider public.
