Etim Ekpo Lawmaker Spreads Christmas Cheer, Cash Gifts to Stakeholders, Youths, Women

In the Spirit of Christmas, the Lawmaker Representing Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency, Rt Hon (Elder) Mfon Idung, has reached out to his Constituents with cash gifts to critical Stakeholders, Youths and Women across the Local Government Area.

The presentation, held within the constituency, at Etim Ekpo Council Secretariat on Saturday, during the Governor’s meeting, was aimed at appreciating community leaders for their support while providing timely assistance to youths and women during the festive season. The Lawmaker described the gesture as a personal way of sharing joy and standing with the people at a time when many families face increased financial pressure that can inhibit their joy during this Christmas season.

“Our stakeholders, Youths and Women are very important to me and to the development of Etim Ekpo,” he said. “Christmas is a time to give and this is my little way of saying thank you and encouraging unity and peace in our Communities.”

Etim Ekpo people appreciated the gesture and were full of excitement at the Lawmaker’s magnanimity, describing it as thoughtful and reassuring. Youths and women leaders noted that the support would help them celebrate the Christmas with joy, meet basic needs and enjoy the season with their families.

The Lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots engagement and people-focused representation, assuring constituents of continued support beyond the Christmas season.

He also assured the people that he shall continue to make laws and support laws that are intended to address the direct needs of the people, saying that, “that is what he was elected to do in the House”.

Elder Idung assured the people of continuous open door policies, adding that his compound gates are 24 hours thrown open for everybody to access him, and that at no time will his gates be closed. He maintained that he is a People’s Lawmaker with his heart open for the people at all times both for feedback and necessary input for effective representation.

The Lawmaker appealed to the Youths to do everything within their capacity to sustain the peace that is being enjoyed in Etim Ekpo, challenged them to be law abiding and to explore avenues towards becoming productively engaged through the different initiatives embedded in the Arise Agenda of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.

He therefore appreciated the state Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for consolidating on the gains of the Arise Agenda, towards ensuring that Akwa Ibom people benefit maximally from the good intentions and content of the Arise Agenda. He also applauded the Governor for his compassionate and humanitarian stance, thereby stimulating development and engineering prosperity in the state

Elder Idung commended the Executive Chairman of Etim Ekpo, Gideon Uwa, for his steadfastness, selflessness, humility and visionary leadership in Etim Ekpo that has culminated in unprecedented development in the area. He acknowledged the facelift that characterizes the Council Secretariat, the sustainable peace he has fostered in Etim Ekpo and the numerous youth empowerment initiatives that he has made available towards uplifting the Youths. He prayed God for continued wisdom, protection and guidance for the Chairman, towards the proliferation of more dividends of democracy in Etim Ekpo.
