Christians and worshipers at The Salvation Army Church has been tasked to deepen their faith in God and seek the grace of God for an expanded impact in the work of God and society.
The territorial Commander of the Salvation Army in charge of Akwa Ibom and Cross River State, Commissioner Friday Ayanam gave the admonition at a One-Day zonal congress of the church held in his honor of Commissioners Friday and Glory Ayanam, the territorial Commander and territorial president of women’s ministries, the national leaders of the salvation army on Sunday in Uyo the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The event which was marked on the theme: “Deepening our faith, Expanding our Impact’ had convergence of members of the salvation army from the zone which comprised of Akwa Ibom and Cross River State, alongside old students of salvation army secondary school Akai Ubium, choral groups and others who graced the epoch making occasion at Ibom Hall Grounds.
The event which featured praise and worship, congregational songs: thank you Lord for all your goodness, vocal presentation by united young people’s singing company, scripture reading, timbrel presentation and prayers also witnessed match pass procession among other things.
High points of the ceremony was the presentation of Award of Pilar of Peace and Harmony to the governor of Akwa Ibom State Pastor Umo Eno and conferment of Award of Visionary Leadership on the governor of Cross River State, Sen Basset Out.
Meanwhile, the Salvation Army Akwa Ibom and Cross River States Development Council has handed over the management of the famous Salvation Army Secondary School Akai Ubium in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State to Akwa Ibom State government for onward management, development and expansion.
Accordingly, the state commissioner for education Prof. Ubong Umoh had given the State’s government assurance that its will take necessary measures that would enhance due process of taking over management of the school, stating that the state government is seriously interested in the development of human capital of his people and infrastructures in the state.
Prof Umoh who represented the state governor Pastor Umo Eno at the event as the old boy praised Salvation Army and school for their service to humanity, maintaining that his government is seriously working and will continue to deepen the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Arise Agenda program to better the lot of every Nigerians in Akwa Ibom State. He used the fora to appreciate the salvation army for the award bestowed on him, saying that it’s would motivate him to work harder for Akwa Ibom people.
Speaking, the governor of Cross River State, Sen Basset Otu, an old boy of the Salvation Army Secondary School Akai Ubium expressed appreciation for the honour done him, and urged christians to be faithful in God while charging Nigerians to emulate Salvation Army in virtue of evangelism and community development to better the society.
Earlier, the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Council, Rt Rev. Prince Antai in a goodwill message celebrated with the zonal congress and reception service in honour of Commissioners Friday and Glory Ayanam, describing it as an epoch making and a turning point in the life of the church and it’s leadership.
Reading from Psalm 29:1 down and Mathew 22:37-40, Commissioner Friday Ayanam who spoke on transformational grace harps on christians doing things according to the principle of God to attract abundant grace to prevail, renew and empowered.
The man of God called for unity and togetherness among Akwa Ibom people, live among believers, and added that there is no division in form of tribe among the people of Akwa as the state Governor has worked to unit the people.
